FIRE ACRYLIC FR
Product:
Fire Acrylic FR is a halogen free, polymer emulsion based sealant that swells when subjected to temperatures in excess of 125oC and forms a char coat that restricts the passage of smoke and fire.
Characteristics:
- Swells when exposed to temperatures in excess of 125°C
- Intumescent in contact with fire
- Excellent adhesion to a wide range of substrates
- Will not harden or crack with age
- It is easily applied and dries to a flexible and smooth surfaced material
- Readily over paintable.
- Colourfast and waterproof after curing
Applications:
-Forms a fire and smoke seal in joints up to 35mm wide without slumping
- For sealing joints in and around internal partitions, lap joints in fire-rated cladding and for sealing between fire doors and fire-rated walls
- Fire-resistant sealing compound for cracks in concrete and plaster
- Fire-resistant connection joints in the building industry
- Fire-resistant joints with movements up to 15%.
Packaging:
Colour: white, grey
Packaging: cartridge 310mL,
Surfaces:
Type: all porous building surfaces
State of Surface: clean, dry, free of dust and grease
Preparation: Highly porous surfaces should be sealed with diluted Fire Acrylic FR (1 part Fire Acrylic FR and 2 parts water).
Joint Size:
Minimum Width: 5mm
Maximum Width: 20mm
Minimum Depth: 15mm
Recommandation: jointh depth = joint width
Use PE backer rods in case of large joint dimensions to avoid three-sided adhesion
Applying the sealant:
Method: To achieve a high quality joint, clean all surfaces, remove dust and ensure surfaces are dry.
Non porous surfaces should be degreased using a suitable degreasing agent.
Apply masking tape to each side of joint and gun sealant firmly into joint, smoothing off with a wetted spatula. Masking tape should be removed within 10 minutes of application.
Application temperature: +5°C to +40°C
Clean: Uncured Fire Acrylic FR may be removed from tools with water. Cured sealant must be removed mechanically.
Finishing: with soapy water
Repair: with Fire Acrylic FR
We recommend a preliminary compatibility test.
Shelflife:
At least 12 months in unopened packaging in a cool and dry storage place at temperatures between +5°C and +25°. Protect against frost!
Approvals:
Fire Acrylic FR has been independently tested to the following assessments:
•an indicative fire test based on BS476 Part 20 at Warrington Fire Research and achieved a 4 hour fire rating (integrity) for a range of vertical and horizontal joints up to 35mm wide between various non combustible construction materials. A 1 hour fire rating (integrity) was achieved for a range of vertical joints up to 25mm wide between combustible materials (timber).
•Naval Engineering standard test NES 711, issue 3 and achieved an average toxicity index of 0.44.
•Sound tested for acoustic performance values and achieved values of between 46 and 55 dBA indicating the sealant should uphold acoustic performance requirements of most normal partitioning systems.
Remarks:
•Do not use in applications where continuous water immersion is possible.
•Not suitable in joints where movement exceeds + or - 15% of joint width
•Not suitable in external joints.
•Firecryl Intumescent can be painted over with most paints. If the sealant is to be over painted, building regulations may require a fire resistant coating.
•The paint should be sufficiently elastic to be applied on a plasto-elastic sealant.
•It is recommended that a sealant depth of at least 15mm be applied.
Health- and safety recommendations:
